Operational since 1999, Bengalla is in Muswellbrook in the Hunter Valley, and supplies international markets with approximately 10 Mtpa.

The Role
The Contract Specialist’s role is critical in ensuring Bengalla is best positioned for the procurement of services and goods for the mine. This role reports to, and is the right hand of, the Procurement and Supply Superintendent. You will provide assistance with contract and contractor management support to Bengalla from pre-tender through negotiation to contract management and review.

This role is a full time, fixed term contract of 12 months.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

• Contract development and negotiation on commercial aspects including price and terms and conditions;
• Preparation of tender documents for public release;
• Evaluation and management of tender submissions including preparation of results for review;
• Ensuring all Contract Managers meet legislative requirements and Bengalla’s standards and practices;
• Maintaining the contract and contractor database;
• Providing regular feedback to the Procurement Superintendent and Contract Owners on the status of all contracts and contractors;
• Forward Purchase Agreements;
• Developing relationships with internal & external stakeholders;
• Continuously improving contract and contractor management processes and documents.

Qualifications and experience

Ideally, you will bring:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications (Bachelor of Commerce, Law or Engineering would be ideal) and/or relevant work experience in contracts & procurement;
• Minimum two years’ experience in contract management end to end;
• High level of proficiency and demonstrated experience in contract management and procurement;
• Experience in project management;
• Strong interpersonal and negotiating skills, including verbal and written communications;
• High competency level in the use of Microsoft Office Suite;
• Previous exposure and experience in Mining operations is highly desirable.
