Student Geologist

We are looking for a passionate, innovative, and driven individual to join the NHG Team as a Vacation Student – Geo From November 2024 to February 2025. 

About the Role: 

• Gain hands on experience in a residential mining environment and learn about life onsite. 
• Learn and follow strict safety protocols and standards while collaborating with other team members to ensure that role requirements and communicate safety measures effectively. 
• Apply your theoretical knowledge to real world tasks, supporting your team to achieve objectives and work on project-based assignments.  
• Be exposed to daily duties of professionals in your field and provide insights into various career paths and specialist areas in mining. 

About you:

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science Geology Degree  
• Strong computer literacy (particularly Excel) 
• Current driver’s license 
• Strong oral and written communications skills 
• Highly motivated, energetic, and enthusiastic 
• Physically able to undertake manual work and meet requirements of pre-employment medical  
• Good interpersonal and teamwork skills. 
• Right to Work in Australia. 

 What we offer: 

• Paid vacation work over the Summer period.  
• Opportunity to work with the Site and Corporate Technical Services Team, applying theoretical knowledge to solve practical problems. 
• Ideally, the period of work will be for 12 weeks (flexibility based on individual needs). 
• Monday-Friday dayshift 
• Exposure to the Coal Mining industry. 
• Mentorship and support from seasoned industry leaders. 
• A combination of Corporate and site-based activities.
